Animal Laws was formed to help fight legislation Alert - Quite a few negative animal bills have been filed in this most recent session of the Florida House and Florida Senate. Please visit our Florida Page to learn more. Below is information on just a couple of the new bills that have been introduced. HB 189 was filed in the Florida House of Representatives and identical bill SB 922 has been filed in the Senate. These bills seek to overturn the Florida statute that prohibits BSL (Breed Specific Legislation). SB 288 was filed in the Senate - is a newer, insanely strict puppy lemon law bill. If this bill passes, it could be the end of all dog breeders in FL. HB 1249 was filed in the Florida House of Representative and identical bill SB 2002 have been filed in the Senate. The bills are titled commercial breeders, but the tight restrictions affect anyone that has 20 or more dogs. The sponsor of the House bill has admitted that this bill was written by the HSUS, which goes to show these bills are about Animal Rights, not Animal Welfare. Animal Rights groups are really trying to get a foothold in Florida. We need all the help we can get to fight these types of restrictive animal legislation.
