Please - also view our pages on HSUS and PETA - which are two of the largest, most influential Animal Rights groups today.

Too many people don't realize there is a huge difference between Animal Rights and Animal Welfare.  Animal Rights groups (such as HSUS, PETA, etc.) want to raise animals to the same status as humans, and to eliminate all animal ownership.  This will mean animals would no longer be pets, raised for food, clothing, medical research, etc.  Most (maybe all) domesticated animals would become no longer exist, since for the most part, domesticated animals could not survive without human interaction.  There would no longer be zoos, or captive breeding programs for wildlife, so many species of animals would also become extinct.

Animal Welfare is about making sure that animals are well taken care of, not abused, and humanely dispatched.  Animal Rights groups do not care about Animal Welfare, their only goal is to remove all animals from our lives, through negative animal legislation.  They often give them impression that they are concerned about the welfare of animals, but don't be fooled, that is not the case.  Animal Rights groups such as the HSUS or PETA raise funds by deceiving the public into thinking that the money raised will go to help animals.  When, in fact, a large majority money raised goes to fundraising, huge salaries for executives, and legislation.  Extremely little actually goes to help any animals.  The HSUS is the driving force behind most of the anti-animal legislation that is being proposed across the United States.  Legislation such as BSL (Breed Specific Legislation), MSN (Mandatory Spay/Neuter), breeder licensing, pet limits, laws restricting farming, as all part of their scheme - to eliminate animals from our lives.  While they proposed these bills, under the guise of Animal Welfare.  Do some research, you will find repeatedly that the HSUS and PETA, are not concerned with Animal Welfare.
